Martyn also recently moved out of Fife and across the water onto the central belt - only a spitting distance from the Edinburgh to Glasgow mainline. It does make commuting to Bo’ness for fireman turns a lot quicker that’s for sure, even if he did admit he’s carried out less since moving across back in the early Spring!
Okay, I jest there. Cammy has moved on to bigger and better things, in terms of employment. Previously part of customer on-board services and refreshments, he’s now completed his third week of training in gate line staff for another mainline TOC, about to be let loose into the world! Let it be known that the peak time commuters of Scotland might want to avoid, ahem, embrace his presence. In seriousness, it’s great news and something that Cammy has been looking towards doing for a while as he aims to build up his railway career and move ever higher. After all, we can’t just play trains only for fun; we could use them to fund our escapades!
One interesting bit is that my Dad is looking to do the Jacobite Steam Trip between Fort William and Mallaig as part of his growing bucket list. While he’s not a railwayman, I don’t think he could have chosen a better journey to aim for!
And with having mentioned other halves, I’ll update that Jessica is still tolerating 21st Century Railwaymen. She plans to open up a ‘spoof’ account, called ‘21st Century RailWidows’, to run alongside our own. So if you’d like to see updates of ‘Husband away, did the dishes, cat is being a menace and I feel like worrying Jonny by telling him I’m redecorating while he’s away’; and the nuclear fallout from such ideas, then help our Facebook Page get the extra 25 or so likes to 500.
Have fun and enjoy the summer steam!
